オーガニック＝必ずしも無農薬ではない。
有機農作物の定義で「化学的に合成された肥料および農薬の使用を避ける」とあるため「オーガニック＝無農薬」という認識を持たれやすいのですが有機認定される栽培方法の中で農薬の使用自体はOKです。同じ働きをする農薬でも、天然原料によるものはOKで化学合成されたものはダメという考え方です。微生物を有効成分とする殺菌剤など、「有機」表示のできる農薬が指定されています。また「有機栽培」は農薬の成分も全てが「有機」というわけではなく、天然原料であれば「無機物」も含まれています。
農薬の使用を控えた作物を「特別栽培農産物」という名称に統一しています。農林水産省の「特別栽培農産物に係る表示ガイドライン」によれば「特別栽培農産物」の定義は以下の通りとなります。
農産物が生産された地域の慣行レベルに比べて、節減対象農薬の使用回数が50％以下、化学肥料の窒素成分量が50％以下。
やみくもに「農薬は良くない」という認識を持つのではなく、一定の農薬の使用によって、安定した農作物の供給がもたらされていることを理解する必要があります。
「有機農業」には「環境への負荷を出来る限り低減する」という意味も含まれています。自然環境のなかで動植物の食物連鎖や生態系にできるだけ影響を与えないような農作物づくり・・・。

人だったら、栄養不足、ビタミン不足をサプリメントや薬で補って体調を保つよりも、化学農薬や肥料をできるだけ使わず、栄養のある土や環境で育った新鮮な野菜やフルーツ、魚や肉、みそや豆などバランスの良い食事をして、運動もして、免疫力を高めて元気でいるという考え方に近いのかもしれません。

By legal definition, pesticides are substances that kill pests.

Pesticides can be made through chemistry in a lab or derived from natural sources. But no matter whether they are created in a test tube or are derived from a plant, if they are labeled as killing a pest, they are a pesticide. And, while natural pesticides certainly sound healthier, they can also become harmful to our health.
